Flagging Off of the Nanded-Mumbai & Tanakpur-Nanded Express
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the Nanded-Mumbai & Tanakpur-Nanded Express and the extension of the Tanakpur-Pilibhit rail service, strengthening connectivity across Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
The Minister said that the Tanakpur-Nanded Express fulfils a long-standing demand of the Sikh community residing in the Terai region of Uttarakhand by providing direct rail connectivity between Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib, Nanded and Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He noted that the new service has been introduced following sustained public demand and the efforts of public representatives.
Vaishnaw also stated that the Nanded-Mumbai Express will strengthen connectivity between Mumbai and several districts of the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra. He further noted that the extension of rail services connecting Pilibhit, Tanakpur and Agra will enhance regional connectivity and improve travel convenience for passengers.
Significance: The new train services strengthen regional, religious and economic connectivity, fulfil long-pending public demands and reflect the Government’s commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expanding inclusive, passenger-centric railway connectivity across the country.
